We need YOU! There are many ways you can help the Vieques Humane Society. REQUEST: Please fill out the application below before coming to the shelter. This helps us prepare for your arrival.

Dog & Cat Handlers

From taking a dog on a walk, to giving baths, to cuddling kittens and playing with puppies, our dog and cat handlers help get our adoptable pets ready for homes and well socialized.

doggie day out

Take a dog on a field trip! This is a wonderful opportunity to give shelter dogs a much-needed break from the shelter. By taking a shelter dog on an outing, volunteers provide them with socialization, exercise, and a chance to experience the world beyond the shelter walls. This program benefits the dogs by reducing stress and increasing their chances of adoption.

Sleepover!

Just like the doggie day out - this is a wonderful opportunity to give a shelter cat or dog a much needed break from the shelter. You must make sure your hotel or Airbnb is pet friendly.

Travel Escorts

Take a small dog or kitten back to the States with you. VHS takes care of all logistics and fees!

Being in a home setting feels like heaven to our shelter dogs and makes them more adoptable. Plus, you'll have the honor of prepping a hopeful dog for a forever family. Fosters are critical to our lifesaving goals!
